McTague Law Firm LLP is one of the oldest, largest and most respected law firms in Southwestern Ontario. Our firm has a rich history paired with an impressive roster of current and former Partners and Associates. We recognize that articling is extremely important, and, therefore, place an emphasis on our articling program.

McTague is committed to fostering the education of law students and provides opportunities for articling students to enhance their legal endeavors with professional and experienced lawyers.

We are strategically focused on Business and Corporate Law, Commercial Litigation, Employment and Labour Law, Estates and Trusts Law, Litigation and Real Estate Law. Our articling program is specifically designed to expose articling students to a wide variety of legal matters in these areas, while retaining the flexibility for students to pursue their own specific interests. Working closely with lawyers from each practice area, articling students will have the opportunity to conduct legal research, interview witnesses, meet with clients, draft documents, and make court appearances.

McTague hires two students annually to participate in the articling program. In hiring students, we consider their academic achievement, outside interests, and personality. We specifically look for students who can produce quality work, take responsibility and relate well to members of our firm and our clients.

Our compensation package is competitive with other similarly sized Essex County law firms. For the right person and where the need exists, we also offer the possibility of a career path subsequent to articling. Our articling program has provided the primary source of Associates and Partners within the firm and we invite you to review the lawyer profiles on their website for examples of the outstanding people we employ and potential career paths.

Students who are interested in applying for an articling position should include in their application: a covering letter, resume, and copies of undergraduate and law school transcripts.  The application deadline is no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15th, 2024.  Please clearly indicate that your application is for Articling Student 2025-2026 and direct your application to:
